2nd annual Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh announces award winners

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 4—The awardees of the second-annual Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh Call for Diverse Art have been announced! 

This year’s program received an overwhelming number of inspiring submissions from artists across Pittsburgh’s communities, highlighting powerful visions for a more equitable and inclusive future.

The awardees will be recognized during the Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh Exhibition and Reception, held as part of the August Wilson African American Cultural Center’s monthly “artful networking” series Intermission on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the AWAACC. 

The event will feature an in-person showcase of the award-winning works, performances, and a celebration of the artists’ contributions to envisioning a just Pittsburgh.

First Place Awardees

The Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh initiative celebrates creative expressions that challenge, inspire, and expand perspectives of what an equitable Pittsburgh could be. This year’s submissions spanned visual arts, writing, performance, and interdisciplinary works, offering profound insights and bold visions from artists of all ages.

The Feb. 20 event at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center will be free and open to the public, with the opportunity to engage with the artists and their work. The exhibit at the AWACC will be up until Sunday, March 30.
