July 10, 2024

Some big names are teaching people how to win at life during a symposium focused on sports and education called Oasis. This event, taking place on the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus this week, features speakers such as Kevin Colbert, Bill Hillgrove, and Dr. Kathy Humphrey, who are imparting leadership skills.

Orange Arrow coaches student-athletes in life skills so they can succeed on and off the field. "Whatever field you are in, you need to be clear about your values and you need to model them," said Dan Fisher, Head Volleyball Coach at Pitt.

The event, named OASIS (Orange Arrow Symposium in Sports), is now helping adults.

"It's special to get all these folks together under one roof, brainstorm, and put together ideas with an action plan behind it," said former NFL player Lousaka Polite. "Anytime you provide a platform to elevate discussions on inclusion, bringing communities together using sports, it's incredibly important," added Dr. Clyde Wilson Pickett, Chief Diversity Officer at Pitt.
