Pitt is recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a series of programs designed to support and educate the community about relationship violence and sexual misconduct.
Carrie Benson, director of the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention & Education within OEDI, said members of the campus community are encouraged to join together “as we work to increase knowledge and awareness around sexual misconduct, while promoting safe, consent-focused, and healthy relationships.”

PAAR Wellness Workshop Series

Self-care and healing can take many forms and involve a number of different skills, techniques, routines, and supports. Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and Prevention at Pitt are starting a wellness series to give survivors and their allies as safe space to learn more about how trauma impacts the body and brain, language for discussing our complex emotions, to take space to learn and practice soothing skills and coping strategies, and most importantly: build community with fellow peers who are also seeking community and support.
This group will focus on setting and maintaining boundaries.

Supporting Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence

This training offered by STANDING FIRM, a program of the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, is designed for staff and faculty of the university to build understanding of the complex issues around domestic/partner violence and how it affects the workplace and the workforce. Attendees will learn how to recognize the signs that a co-worker or student may be dealing with the realities of domestic/partner violence and how to approach and respond to them in a respectful, safe, and productive manner.

Chappell Roan has had a meteoric rise to mainstream stardom this year and with that has come so many discussions around identity, belonging, boundaries, well being, consent, and relationships of all types. Join us for a night filled with Chappell's music and lore as we navigate through activities aimed at promoting consent centered, healthy relationships. There will be stations with activities for you to dive into inspired by songs like "casual" and "naked in Manhattan" as well as plenty of opportunities to connect with other students and normalizing centering conversations around what we WANT in a relationships and HOW we get there. This event is sponsored by Prevention at Pitt and the Office for Inclusion and Belonging.

Stop by the Prevention at Pitt office for mocktails and conversation with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR). This casual event will provide students with the opportunity to pick up information about the services PAAR provides and to connect with a confidential advocate at PAAR. We will also have mocktails, games and music if you just need a place to hang out and relax.
